Seven Sisters

The 'Seven Sisters' is the alliterative name given to the range of undulating chalk cliffs along the south coast of England between the River Cuckmere and Birling Gap. There are in fact eight hills although the middle one is little more than a 'rise'.

The cliffs are being eroded at an an alarming rate - moving England further away from France on an almost daily basis !

The South Downs Way follows the edge of these cliffs but since there is no fencing and the edge often 'overhangs' it is prudent to keep a safe distance inland.
